Helicobacter-like organisms in the stomach of pigs with and without gastric ulceration
نویسنده
چکیده
Methods: Stomachs of pigs from four farms with diverse management systems were examined. The presence of Helicobacter was determined using an in-situ urease mapping technique and performing microscopic examination using Warthin-Starry silver stain. Culture was attempted using methods appropriate for Campylobacter species and Helicobacter pylori. The presence of lesions in the pars oesophagea based on macroscopic examination was recorded.

Role of Probiotics in the Management of Helicobacter Pylori Infection
Helicobacter pylori is a gram-negative, spiral-shaped, microaerophilic organism that colonizes the stomach of humans and causes chronic-active gastritis, peptic ulcer disease, and gastric cancers, including adenocarcinoma of the stomach and MALT (mucosal-associated lymphoid tumor) lymphomas. H. pylori colonizes the stomach of over 50 % the world’s human population, primarily those who reside in...

Gastric Helicobacter The discovery of the association of Helicobacter pylori with gastritis, peptic ulcers, and gastric neoplasia has led to fundamental changes in the understanding of gastric disease in humans. Investigation of the relationship of gastric disease to Helicobacter spp. in other animals has resulted in the discovery of H. mustelae in ferrets with gastritis and peptic ulcers, H. a...
متن کاملHelicobacter infection: What should a swine practitioner know?
Gastric microbiology of the pig has been given a great deal of attention in the past decade. Much of the work in this area has been published in human medical journals, and therefore, swine practitioners may not be aware of these recent findings. The pig has been used in the study of gastroduodenal ulcers of humans. The stomach of pigs has been successfully colonized experimentally by Helicobac...

This study was performed to detect cultivable canine gastric Helicobacter-like organisms (GHLO’s) and to evaluate their sensitivity to common antibiotics in two groups of naturally infected dogs (pets and stray dogs). Gastric samples were taken from the body and antrum of 30 pets and 30 stray dogs. From each part of canine gastric mucosa, four gastroscopic samples were used for impression smear...
متن کاملHelicobacter suis affects the health and function of porcine gastric parietal cells
The stomach of pigs at slaughter age is often colonized by Helicobacter (H.) suis, which is also the most prevalent gastric non-H. pylori Helicobacter (NHPH) species in humans. It is associated with chronic gastritis, gastric ulceration and other gastric pathological changes in both hosts. Parietal cells are highly specialized, terminally differentiated epithelial cells responsible for gastric ...
